The documentary “Känäk mit Integrationshintergrund” is the legacy that our grandparents – the guest workers – left us. A great and valuable legacy that must be protected and preserved!
Because WHO else but we ourselves would be able to delve into the depths of the Austro-Turks to give an insight into what has become of the people who were “only” brought to Austria and Germany as auxiliary workers?
For the documentary “Känäk mit Integrationshintergrund”, I spent almost two years interviewing Austrians of Turkish origin and accompanying them in their everyday lives.
To answer the big question: “We were guest workers. WHO ARE WE TODAY?”.
I went to Turkey to research my own past and also interviewed the philosopher and historian Bratic Ljubomir on the subject of guest workers.
